Instructions for Authors

The Pakistan Journal of Urology (PJU) welcomes the submission of original research articles, reviews, case reports, and clinical studies related to the field of urology. Our aim is to promote the dissemination of high-quality, peer-reviewed research to a global audience. Please carefully read the following instructions before submitting your manuscript to ensure it adheres to the journal’s guidelines:

  1. Types of Submissions
    We accept the following types of manuscripts:

    • Original Research Articles: Novel findings, experimental data, and clinical studies.

    • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of current topics in urology.

    • Case Reports: Unique and informative case studies.

    • Short Communications: Brief reports on novel observations or techniques.

  2. Manuscript Preparation
    Manuscripts must be submitted in the following format:

    • Font: Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.

    • Margins: 1-inch (2.5 cm) on all sides.

    • Length: Research articles should not exceed 4,000 words, including abstract, tables, and references. Case reports and short communications should be under 2,000 words.

    • Title: The title should be concise and informative, not exceeding 15 words.

    • Abstract: Include a structured abstract of no more than 250 words, highlighting the objective, methods, results, and conclusion.

    • Keywords: Provide 4-6 keywords related to the study.

    • Headings and Subheadings: Use clear and informative headings for different sections such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, etc.

  3. Figures and Tables

    • All figures and tables must be referenced in the text and must include a title/caption.

    • Figures should be of high quality (300 dpi) and provided in editable formats (e.g., TIFF, PNG, or EPS).

    • Tables should be formatted using Word or Excel and should be simple and easy to understand.

  4. References

    • The reference list should follow the Vancouver style.

    • Cite all references in the text using superscript numbers. For example: "Bladder cancer has a high incidence in older populations¹."

    • Ensure all references are complete and formatted correctly as per the journal's requirements.

  5. Ethical Considerations

    • Authors must comply with ethical standards in research, particularly regarding patient confidentiality and informed consent.

    • All human and animal studies must be approved by the appropriate ethics committee.

    • Plagiarism will not be tolerated and may result in immediate rejection.

  6. Conflict of Interest
    Authors must declare any conflicts of interest that may be perceived as influencing the research or manuscript.

  7. Submission Process

    • All submissions must be made through the journal’s online submission system.

    • After submission, the manuscript will undergo a peer-review process. Authors will be notified of the decision regarding their manuscript.

  8. Copyright and Licensing
    All accepted articles will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing users to share, adapt, and redistribute the material, provided proper credit is given to the original authors.

  9. Final Proofs
    Once the article has been accepted, authors will receive a final proof for approval before publication. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that all corrections are accurate.
